Bastard Pop

Audio Editing Software Screendump
Twenty years ago, mixing tunes of different pitches and speeds would have required thousands of dollars of professional equipment. Digital editing and the growth of desktop computing power has since made professional quality mixing at home feasible.

One group to take advantage of the developments are the Bastard Pop producers. 'Bastard Pop', is what you get when you mix two or more tunes that are musically similar but stylistically different.

So forget the professional musicians, the work of accountants could soon be played on Virgin Radio, XFM, Smash Hits and Kiss.

Here are some of my favorites tunes by my amateur DJ Cropstar:

Tamperer feat. Maya vs Usher - Feel It Yeah
As heard on Kiss and the Smash Hits chart.

Killers vs Ferry Corsten - Somebody Told Me To Rock
- The Killers Somebody Told Me goes up against Ferry Corsten's Rock Your Body Rock.

George Michael vs Aretha Franklin vs Marvin Gaye - Waiting To Get It On
- The classic 80s tune I Knew You Were Waiting mixed with the vocal from Marvin Gaye's classic Lets Get It On.

Quincy Jones vs Comical Ali & The Coalition Crew - Full Control
- The smash-hit musical debut of Comical Ali, the former Iraqi Information Minister!
